Interactive video installation
Video installation what was placed in social security office. Unemployeds have to come there to get a stamp in their official paper twice at the beginning and at the end of each month. They are divided in-groups by sex: women's day and men's day. And every group is divided by alphabetical order. When they come in the office they make a long queue waiting their turn.
A space of the office is divided in two parts by a big screen on to which a film ‘Beverly Hills’ is projected. People in line can watch it. A video projector is placed in such way that people coming in make a big shadow on the projection of the film.

Alexandra Dementieva aime questionner les situations. Pour son intervention au Bureau de Pointage de St.Josse, elle a rejoint nos reflexions quant à la nature improductive des activités qui ont lieu içi. Chaque chômeur et chaque chômeuse est en effet contraint(e) à une activité non-productive, faisant la queue avec le seul but de se faire lister present(e).
De 8h.30 à 16h. le bureau baignait dans une ambiance feutrée, du papier peint ayant obscurci les nombreuses fenêtres. Alexandra a placé un projecteur-video à la hauteur des hanches et projetait “The Ball of the Rose”, un chapître de la serie télé “Beverly Hills”. Il fallait marcher à travers cette projection, et projeter ainsi son ombre sur la tulle mi-transparente qui faisait office d’écran.
L’ombre du chômage marchait ainsi au beau milieu d’un soap capitaliste.
